Big Bang Pang
Translucent polyester panels, wood, lights
Exhibited at: Sifang Museum, Nanjing, China
Curated by: Philippe Pirotte
A site-specific installation at the Sifang Art Museum in Nanjing, China, Big Bang Pang is made of the same materials as the cladding of the outside of the museum. Big Bang Pang could be interpreted in the following ways: a theatrical perspective from a dream sequence, an ascension to the heavens above, or a stack of shiny, almost candy layers that have been chewed through. Clearly related to Big Bang (page…), the installation utilizes forced perspective suggesting a depth of volume larger than its distance in space. The public, activating the work by passing through it, is invited to enter either through the backdoor that hides the intense evolution of the work or from the front, slowly disappearing into—and out of—the work.
